CA2K's 2010 Kamping with the Krows

After the CAC Harvest Festival Rally Shirley and I followed Susie back to Rancho Seco for the "Kamping with the Krows" rally. Susie had saved a nice spot for Shirley and I to put up our tent.

There are two separate camping sites at the park; one for those with RVs and another area for tent camping. The RV sites have the gravel rocks and dust. While tent campers have lush green grass and plenty of shady trees. A fair counter balance I think. The event is called "Kamping with the Krows" but it turned out that "Kamping Krows" were a little scarce this time of year. Not one Krow could be found at our campsite. Well, we had a really good time with the folks hearty enough to brave the elements and bed among the wildlife of the area. Like packs of Raccoons and Snakesss!

Part of the evening festivities was a potluck dinner and later a movie. The movie showing was held at the RV site complete with popcorn and even ice cream. The movie that night was "Blindside".

It was such a perfect night to camp weatherwise we really didn't need to be in our sleeping bags. I woke up in the middle of the night to close our tent flap thinking I heard rain drops. Instead I saw a beautiful starlit sky the silhouette of the tall grass at the edge of the reservoir and the shimmering water beyond. As I was taking in the beautiful view, silhouette of two Raccoons walked across the meadow. Apparantly, they came through the campsite the night before rummaging for an easy meal. They kept their distance tonight as I had our dogs mark the area earlier in the evening.

We woke up to a beautiful morning, again with beautiful weather and the natural scenery. The actual Rally started with the registration and breakfast. Victor Tibbs rode in for the Rally and later won the grand prize of a set of motorcycle tires.

Shirley and I had to take off early as I had forgotten to bring along my medication. But what a fun time it was camping. Something Shirley and I have not done in some ten years. Looks like we may be doing again soon. - Alan
