March 2010 Gathering and Ride

What an excellent meeting and after meeting ride. Bill & Rene Johnson were over to install Steve and Jacque Foster as our Chapter ACDs. And right afterwards, we presented Bill with a shirt embroidered by our own Lynda Smith. The shirt read "Bills little squirts - Philip, Erin & Ella" the names of his grand kids. The idea was hatched a week earlier by Lynda and Shirley during the St Patrick's day festival in Dublin.

We were treated to a delightful surprise - Priti Hansia was able to prod her hubby Joy Dutta to wake up early enough to show up for our meeting and ride. During our open forum, Bob Hole entertained, informed, intrigued and bored us all at the same time with his lengthy recount of the Death Valley ride he and other members had gone too the week before. I bring this up as it was the basis for this month's Wingnut Award. Bob won it for his presentation and Lynda Smith for her instigation of Bob to speak about the trip. Simply hilarious.

Our after-meeting ride was a fun run through Mines road and San Antonio Valley road with hopes of catching the wild flowers in bloom; they weren't quite ready. Then it was up to Mt Hamilton and over to Alviso for a late lunch at Maria Elena's Taqueria. That was one of the best Mexican food I've had in a long time. An excellent end to an excellent day.
