Nov 09' Chapter Gathering & Ride to 2009 Int'l Motorcycle Show @ San Mateo, CA

It was a special gathering for CA2Q, we had the honor of hosting our soon to be District Directors Bill & Rene Johnson. They came by to explain a District decision that impacted our Chapter and to also give us a taste of things to come. One item in particular was a game Bill calls "GWRRACaching" as in "Geocaching". Very similar to it's namesake, the game will have each Chapter setup their Chapter cache(s) which will include some item related to that particular Chapter. Members from around the District can then follow the published coordinants to track down their target. I can say a lot of our folks were very intrigued and can't wait for the game to begin. I'm sure there'll be a ton of details to still work out, but clearly it's going to be pretty popular.

We had informed folks that we would be taking a Chapter group photo after the meeting and we were delighted to see so many of our members able to attend. As you can imagine, it was a bit chaotic trying to coordinate it all but the team worked it out. I have to give a special thanks to Sunny Montgomery for her being so observent. She called me out on my unorthodox camera shot count. Gave everyone a nice broad smile for that winning shot. ;-)

The after-meeting ride wasn't so much a ride as a destination. The 2009 International Motorcycle show held at the San Mateo fair grounds. Literally thousands of bikes were all around the parking lots. We ran into so many members of our northern California sister Chapters that it started to feel like a GWRRA rally. Of course we had to check out Honda's display; they had a couple of 2010 Goldwings but not the "rumored" new generation. Most believe it will be the 2011 model. They did have their new VFR1200 with the new "Dual Clutch" technology. Some believe the next generation Wing will include this technology.

It was difficult to keep in touch with the group at the show and most of us pretty much faded into the crowd. Steve & Jacque along with Shirley and me left the show to have a late lunch at a local Persian restaurant that we had heard so much about. I think our information was a little old. The address now has some kind of mediterranean restaurant. So, we opted for "Taxi's" hamburger joint around the corner.

A very special gathering, a nice ride to a motorcycle show on a spectacularly beautiful day. What more could you ask for?
