It certainly was a warm day, I believe between noon and 5pm the temp range was 103 to 108. I half expected a good amount of the folks to shy away from such heat. But our gang had strong spirit and nearly all that RSVP'd showed up. The award for the sturdiest can only go to Larry and Rita Heisler. They were not only in the high temps along with everyone else, they were also preparing our meal via Dutch Oven style using charcoal briquettes. I think you get the picture how hot it was to be in their shoes. And by the way, the meal was delicious. Jambalaya, fresh biscuits and later Apple cobler and Mississippi Mud pie. A big "Thank You!" Larry & Rita. Folks found ways to keep their cool and stay hydrated. Some of us had a pretty good time acting our age with our "super soakers". And others simply stayed in shade and kept a cool drink handy. Oh... there was the maintenance thing too. After opening up Steve Foster's bike to test the calibration of his CB, it was realized that we were missing an adapter. With no one really interested in running around for a Radio Shack to get the missing device, we decided it was probably best to defer the calibration for another time. However, we did go through several demonstrations of plugging a nail on a tire and various tools you may consider carrying for inflating your tire. The heat tested us but even so, we had a really great time. - Alan
